  • Compliance with the Spanish Building Code for fire safety (DB-SI), safety in use and accessibility (DB-SUA) and noise (DB-HR), plus ventilation (RITE, IDA 2) and low-voltage installation (REBT).
  • Accessibility exemption request justified by technical infeasibility, without altering the building structure.
  • Professional association certification, end-of-works certificate and responsible declaration for the application.

  • 961people, design capacity
  • 8deficiencies reported to the designer

What we did

  • Review of the project to convert an industrial building, planned in two phases (outdoor terrace and indoor hall).
  • Two technical meetings with the designer and formal notice of deficiencies: occupancy and ventilation, hygiene, noise, energy efficiency, structural safety, repealed regulations and emergency lighting.
  • Assessment of the corrected project: zoning (PGOU), Building Code (SI, SUA, HS, HR, HE and SE), REBT and RITE.

Outcome

Favourable report for opening, conditional on removing the fixed terrace roof to comply with the permitted floor area.

  • 11rides and stalls checked at the fair
  • 38 km/hwind speed limit set for the inflatables

What we did

  • Inflatables: review of annual inspection certificates (UNE-EN 14960) and third-party liability insurance, rejecting non-compliant documentation.
  • On-site inspection of the inflatables (anchoring, ballast, blower perimeter, fire protection and supervision) and control measures: closure with wind above 38 km/h and permanent Civil Protection supervision.
  • Fairground: check of fire extinguishers, perimeters and electrical installation of 5 rides and 6 stalls against each licence file.
  • Detection of an incomplete exit system on one ride and an expired fire extinguisher at one stall, with a follow-up verification visit agreed with the council.

Outcome

Inflatables declared fit for use and fairground issues resolved before opening.

The origin

Why Daedalus?

In classical mythology, Daedalus is the first great engineer in history. His best-known work, the Labyrinth of Crete, was not conceived as a place of confusion, but as a monumental structure built on geometry, spatial logic and technical problem-solving.

That is where our name and our way of working come from: true engineering means analysing complex scenarios to trace the most efficient and structured route to a solution.

We don't illustrate the myth, we apply its logic.
